The Almanzora Group of Friends was originally started in 1998 as a means of sharing information, and giving advice to people who had decided to move to this beautiful area of Spain – the Almanzora Valley.

The Group is totally self-funding and not affiliated to any political or religious organisation.

centre01Our Library and Information Centre is situated in Avenida Lepanto, Albox, 100 metres down from Mercadona and next door but one to Oliver’s Bar, and is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00.

The library has a large selection of books, videos, DVDs and computer games for adults and children and new titles are added every month.

We have a list of translators who can help with legal and medical matters. They are independent of the Group and charges should be negotiated individually.

The staff in the Centre are all volunteers who provide a friendly welcome and will try and help you with any information.

Coach trips, both days out and holidays, form an integral part of the Group’s activities and introduce members to other beautiful parts of Spain.

The subscription is 12 euros per annum and includes our monthly newsletter which can be picked up in the centre. Renewals are due in January.

Serendipity / Crystal cave

Avda 28 de Febrero 46, Albox (next to Sol y Mar/Post Box)

John Copeland, the Crystal Man of Almeria, has been selling Swarovski hanging crystals, precious and semi-precious gemstones, minerals, fossils, dowsing pendulums, singing bowls and associated items for over 10 years in the Almanzora valley. He can now be found at Serendipity in Albox where he also offers a range of Antiques and Curiosities for that special gift, and jewellery made to order.

In addition, he stocks all the same craft supplies for which Serendipity has been famous in Albox for many years and the well known weekly card making workshops are still taking place – for the beginners and the more experienced.

Come in from 10:00 to 14:00 Monday to Friday or visit Los Llanos market on Saturday mornings or to view outside these hours call John on 617 699 624
