About Us
The group of friends was started by ex-pats, for ex-pats. The main function of the the Almanzora Valley area of Almería by the sharing of information and advice. It is totally self funding and is not affiliated to any political or religious organisation.
We have a library and information centre located in Avenida Lepanto, Albox (100 metres from the Mercadona supermarket and next door but one to Rumores).
The centre is manned totally by volunteers and is open from 10:00am to 1:30pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday each week.
The library has a large selection of books, videos, talking books and DVDs which can be hired for a small charge. There is also a childrens section.
As an addition to the library facilities we have Computer Games for hire.
The group hold regular social events. Quiz nights are popular events, and are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, 8:00pm for 8:30pm, at Rumores Bar in Albox.
Coach trips and mini-holidays, dinner dances, car treasure hunts, etc. are also organised from time to time.
Information leaflets are also produced on various subjects to assist those living in Spain. These are available from the centre for a small charge.
At the centre there is also a list of translators to help with legal and medical matters. These are independent of the group and charges are to be negotiated with the translator directly.
Our staff have a wealth of information which is always available to members.
Subscription is €12 per person per year. This includes a monthly newsletter, available from the centre at the beginning of each month.
