Message from the Committee: February 2026

Happy New Year to all our members. We hope you had a lovely time over the festive period.

January once again saw the completion of our AGM. A big thank you to those who attended and to the organisers.

Thanks to Maura Hillen who offered members advice on matters relating to property and inheritance planning. Unfortunately for us, but happily for her, Maura will be retiring in July this year. She will be devoting more time to a little dog charity in Chirivel and also to travel more. Maura has been very helpful over the years in guiding us through legal matters affecting the association and we are very grateful.

Our wonderful Jos Briggs has recently broken her hip, we send her all our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery. On Page 13 of the magazine she explains what happened in her own unique words!

SAD NEWS

We recently heard of the sudden death in September of one of our valued members – Paul Meade. When he and Pamela first moved to this area they lived in La Alfoquia and made lots of friends there. Then they moved to San Juan but kept up their membership and continued to come on our trips. Paul was a lovely man and will be missed but Pamela intends to continue coming on our trips when she gets back from UK. We look forward to seeing her.
