Message from the Committee: July 2026
As the summer has well and truly arrived, it’s coming up to the time we all have a break from our duties!
We have included our tips for keeping healthy in the heat and places to go with your visitors.
Remember the library’s last day of opening is Friday the 31st July, so stock up on your summer read this month.
Also Coffee Spanish has now been suspended until September. We will let you know its start up date nearer the time.
This month we had a very enjoyable morning at the Library Summer Open Day. Simon Mitchell of Pure Water provided an interesting talk. We also had a picture quiz, the tombola, and raffle. Plus, of course, all the delicious food. Many thanks to all who contributed.
Our July Get Together at New Bar International was a great success.

Help Wanted
Martin and Andrea and their team are proving so popular with the schools in Albox and Zurgena, that they have been approached by other schools to come and practice English with their students in an interactive way. But they need help.
If you enjoy talking to and playing with children then this could be for you. If you can spare an hour on a Thursday or Friday morning, please contact us by email amartinevans@aol.com or phone Martin on 711 07 75 69 No previous experience required; no formal contracts. Try it and see if it is for you. It is
fun and very rewarding.
A couple of our centre team need to retire shortly and we will struggle to cover all our opening times. So please could you consider coming in for a couple of hours one morning to help us out. If you would like to offer your services, or just hear more about what is involved, please contact Kathy on almanzorafriends@gmail.com – and she will get in touch to arrange a chat.
Librarian – This is not an onerous task and can be carried out while we are open or closed. It is a matter of ordering new books, entering them (and donations) onto the system, deleting old ones, and keeping the catalogue up to date. If you would like more information, please email us and Shelagh will arrange to meet you.
Travel – We need someone to work with Frank to organise and attend the day trips.
