Message from the Group President – July 2022
Thanks to all who have donated money to our Albox Ukranian Appeal. I am delighted to report that this amounted to €300. A drop in the ocean, I know, so please do keep on giving. Those poor displaced families need all the help they can get.
The Travel guys are unlikely to organise anything in the heat of August but are working on a mystery trip to an area of historical interest and a 2/3 night pre-Christmas trip to Malaga. If you have been anywhere particularly interesting and think we would enjoy it then please do let us know.
Talking of the August heat, we will be closing for that month, opening again on Thursday 1 September. So please can you all bring back your library books during July to give everyone a chance to choose something to read while we are closed. Thank you.
We hope to restart our Schools Reading Programme in the Autumn, visiting both Junior and Senior schools with the objective of improving the students’ English language skills – through singing, games and fun reading for the younger children, conversation and discussions for the seniors. We need additional volunteers to help with this programme, so if you are a member of AGoF and feel this is something that would interest you, please contact our Centre for further information.
We wish you all a healthy and relaxing summer and look forward to seeing you in September.
