Message from the Group President – June 2021
We are pleased to welcome Joan Naish back onto the committee (co-opted until AGM ratification) and to thank two non-committee members for agreeing to step in and help.
Diane Bolam is now covering the librarian role while Lynne Bowes has had to take some time out. Di was librarian for many years and taught me the ropes, so I am very pleased to have her back. Lisa Sargison is helping Sarah Makin with the mag-azine and is looking forward to the challenge. She asks that you send any articles or ideas for new features to: eleditorgof3@gmail.com
The travel guys finally managed to organise a day out in May and they are working on more as I write. The May one was filled within 24 hours of it being advertised but we were limited with numbers due to the covid restrictions. We got round some of these by asking everyone to make their own way there. We hope that with the vaccination programme now in full flow we might soon be less restricted. They are certainly still thinking about repeating the popular visit to Granada in December. Watch this space.
In April I sent you all an email about the monthly events we are hoping to run at some point in the future. Thanks to those who responded. A morning is favourite but not on market day (Tuesday). We may even try a different day each month. We are still playing with ideas while waiting for restrictions to be lifted so do let us know if there is anything you would particularly like.
Finally, a few of our library team have moved to pastures new and we are struggling to cover. We almost had to close for two days in May. So, if you can spare a few hours one morning and would like to give us some help, please
Thanks, Shelagh
