Message from the Group President – Sept 2021
Writing this at the beginning of August, with Covid numbers rising, it is difficult to know what to say.
We are hoping that restrictions won’t be introduced because of this, and that our Open Day on Saturday 25th September will still be able to go ahead. We will send details nearer the time (by email, Face-book and our website).
We also hope that our trip to Castril won’t be affected. In addition, the guys are planning an evening ‘do’ on 22nd October at Las Con-chas in Baza (where we had our ‘Mystery lunch’) so we are keeping our fingers crossed.
Last year we had to stop going into the schools in Albox to read to the children and older students. They are hoping we can return at some point in the future. However, several of our ‘readers’ have moved on and we need to expand the ‘team’. If you are interested in either reading to the young children in English or talking to the older students please let us know – by email or by phoning the cen-tre during opening hours.
We are also planning to re-introduce our ‘Help Desk’ on 3rd September. Restrictions permitting, Kate Salt will be in the centre on Fri-days from 10 to 1 to help our members with queries on Spanish doc-umentation etc.
Finally, we hope you enjoy the four extra pages in the magazine this month. We have some ideas for future editions but it is your maga-zine and we would like to hear what you would like to see in there. Please do give us some feedback.
Thank you for your continued support.
