Message from the president – Aug 2020
We have now been in our Plaza San Antonio premises for 2 years. Hard to believe. But over those two years we have greatly extended our activities:- with free use of com-puters and WiFi; a Help Desk for those who need assistance with Spanish documenta-tion; a list of translators; our involvement with the local schools; liaison with Caritas, the Spanish charity; various events and classes held upstairs.
Of course all this had to stop during the lock down and we are still not back to full operation. We hope to re-open upstairs as soon as we can put in place the necessary health and safety measures. We will keep you notified via email and Facebook.
Unfortunately, we have had to close down for the month of August. Several of the team are not going to be available. We discussed reducing opening days in order to cover, but we have had very few members coming in during June and July and expect less in the heat of August. Many have told us they are reluctant to come out while the Corona virus is still with us. On this basis we felt it was more sensible to close com-pletely. This issue of the magazine was therefore brought forward to be available at the end of July.
We have also made the very difficult decision to suspend group travel for the rest of the year. Many other organisations are doing the same but we had hoped the situation would have improved by now. Frank and Ian have put a lot of work into organising the Ronda trip and planning something for December, so it is very disappointing for us all that the health situation has put these at risk.

PS – Some of our committee and/or library team are re-locating, or have other commitments, and will be leaving us by the end of the year.
Please do think about joining us. We will make you very welcome!!
