Message from the President: Sept 2023
Writing this at the beginning of August, in the continuing heat, I hope it has cooled down by the time this magazine is issued. I also hope it will be comfortable for our Open Day on Saturday 23rd September. We will have a free barbecue and refreshments with fun and games in the plaza. Bring along your friends and neighbours to learn more about our activities.
In September, we are continuing our visits to the schools in Albox with the aim of giving the children the opportunity to interact with native English speakers and consolidate what they are being taught. If you are interested in being involved, or just find out more, please contact Martin Evans on 711 09 07 63 (on WhatsApp). It is so rewarding and very much appreciated.
There are still a few spaces on our Christmas shopping trip to Valencia from 11th to 14th December and the guys are organising a trip from 6th to 9th May next year to visit the Patios of Córdoba.
Our editor, Lisa, has made some changes to the magazine since she took it over and has ideas for future editions, but it is your magazine and she would like to hear what you would like to see in there. Please do give us some feedback on what you have enjoyed and what else you would like to have included. In particular we would like your ideas on interviews we have planned with local people. So many of us arrive here with a lifetime of experience and some fascinating stories. We want to share those with you. If you know of someone with an interesting background – it could even be you !
– please contact Lisa at agofeditor@gmail.com
Finally, thanks to all those who came to our ‘Use it or Lose It’ session to discuss how we can improve our services, and those who sent in feedback. I have emailed all members a brief outline of the
ideas that came out of this and I will keep you updated on progress.
