Message from the President: Sept 2024

This month we are continuing our visits to the schools in Albox and Zurgena with the aim of giving the children the opportunity to interact with native English speakers and consolidate what they are being taught. We also go into the secondary school in Albox to have discussions with the older students.

Please note our next Open Day will be on Saturday, October 19th, National New Friends Day. Come along to meet friends old and new.

There are still a few places left on our Malaga Lights Trip on 10th – 13th December for those of you who have been asking. Do pop in and book before they all go.

We are now looking for a new Events Co-ordinator, as Debbie Willows has had to give up due to family commitments. Thanks, Debbie for all your hard work while in the post.

We are also still looking for someone to cover advertising as the committee are sharing this between them. Luckily, Chris Hurley has been temporarily taking care of membership and we have a possible replacement. Thank you so much Chris for stepping into the breach.

You will have also had an email confirming my decision to step down as President after the 2025 AGM. I will still be involved with the group and possibly remain on the committee, but not as President. After 10 years I feel it is time to pass on the baton to ‘new blood’.

Please think about taking on one of these activities. It is rewarding and fun. The group needs you.
