Quiz & Lunch: May 3 2023
We are pleased to announce the first of our intended regular events, as requested at the AGM in January. On Wednesday 3 May 2023 we will be holding a ‘Quiz’, kindly hosted by John Fry and we welcome both members and non-members to this event.
The venue will be at the Senior Centre in Albox, Centro Municipal Recreativo de Mayores, Calle Ramon y Cajal 23, Albox, which isn’t too far from the AGOF Centre. We will publish directions on our Facebook page.
Doors open at 11am, with the Quiz commencing at 11.30am – 2 euros for members and 3 euros for non members – we suggest 4 people to a team. The Quiz will be followed by the opportunity for lunch, with menus being provided on arrival. The Centre has a typical Spanish menu and it will be a good opportunity for us all to extend the event with a friendly post quiz lunch.
We hope you can join us on the day and as always with such events they can only continue with your valued support, so please respond to this email if you intend to come along and support the event.
If there are any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us, otherwise we look forward to welcoming you on 3 May.
UPDATE: AFTER THE EVENT
ALMANZORA GROUP OF FRIENDS (AGOF) – QUIZ HELD ON WED 3 MAY AT THE SENIOR CENTRE, ALBOX
What a great morning we had on Wednesday 3 May at our first Quiz, which was held at the Senior Centre in Albox, Centro Municipal Recreativo de Mayores, Calle Ramon y Cajal 23. We were very pleased with the turnout on the day, supported by both members and non-members.
Eight teams of four took part in the quiz and came ready prepared with some very interesting ‘Team’ titles, namely:
Strangers In The Day
Four In A Corner
The Three Little Pigs
We all had a lot of fun trying to work out “Who Am I” as well as the 40 very challenging General Knowledge questions. I am certain that many of us came away with some very fascinating new facts and knowledge!
A bottle of wine was given to each of our Quiz winners – “Four In A Corner” – congratulations to the team members: Peter and Judith Hoyle. Stephen and Barbara Lilley.
On behalf of all who attended, I would like to say a huge thank you to John Fry (pictured) for organising the Quiz. We are already look forward to another one, possibly in July – please look out for further announcements.
We would like to run more events like this in the near future, the venue in Albox is a great place to meet up and they can also provide a fabulous menu del dia, which would require pre-booking/pre-payment on the day – we will let you have further information once we have a confirmed July date.
In the interim, we welcome your ideas as always for future events, which we can only organise with your interest and support and now, with the option of using the Senior Centre, it opens up a lot of opportunities for us as a Group. One of our members, Marion Nobbs, has offered to do an Art Demonstration, so if you are interested in coming along to this could you please email us at email@example.com
Reminder – don’t forget ……. our final event before our Summer closure during August : Summer Fun and Games : Saturday 1 July, 11am to 1pm – please put the date in your diary! There will be
some very intriguing games to be played, such as Hookie, Shuffle Board and many more. Please do come and join us, there will also be our usual finger buffet provided by our volunteers and com-
mittee members, as well as liquid refreshments, tombola and raffle.
