St George’s Day 2022
What a great morning we had on the 23rd April, St. George’s Day and Day of the Book and Rose. The weather god smiled on us and, instead of the forecasted rain, the sun shone although it was a little windy. We had some lovely raffle prizes, a superb selection of nibbles, the ever popular Play your Cards Right, and a football game. Juliet Ryall entertained us with music and singing. There were beautiful fresh red roses to give away with a book of choice, and last, but far from least, was the singing, dancing and recitations from 9 talented children from the Colegion Publico Virgen de Saliente. Their performance was enthusiastically applauded. They then had great fun breaking the Dragon Piñata and gathering up all the sweets as they fell out.
Our sincere thanks to all our volunteers and donors of food, prizes etc. As always, your generosity is very much appreciated and contributed to the success of the event.
All proceeds will go the the Albox Ukranian appeal . They have sent two buses to the Ukrainian border, loaded with food and clothing, and brought back 110 people, of which 95 have been housed in Albox. Subsequently, two more trucks have repeated the trip with much needed supplies. We have a collection box in the library for anyone who would like to donate more to this worthy cause.
